Rotor INSpider Power Meter Features
Flexible system
The Direct Mount INSpider slots onto your axle and then you simply bolt on the chainrings. It is easy to alter your set-up for specific races or as your riding progresses by changing the chainring sizes. Choose either traditional round rings or Rotor's patented oval Q-Rings. The INSpider can also be moved relatively easily between bikes, just by swapping out the spider for an INSpider (as long as the elements are compatible)
Accurate data
The INSPider collects combined left-right power data, offering analysis of power output, cadence, Optimum Chainring Angle (OCA) & data to optimise your Optimal Chainring Position (OCP) & TORQUE 360 to improve your power balance for both training and racing.
Robust unit
The water resistant INSpider unit has coated electronics and a rechargeable battery with up to 300 hours of riding time.
Compatibility
INSpider is compatible with both ANT+™ and Bluetooth® Smart, enabling connection to your bike computer and whilst training on Zwift or other platforms.
Training Peaks is fully compatible. with accessible analytics. They offer a free 'Fundamentals of Power' Training Plan to help you get started.
The Rotor Power App gives additional data analysis of TORQUE 360, Optimum Chainring Angle and balance.
VEGAST crankset features
VEGAST is Rotor's standard crankset, with features including:
Lightweight and strong
The 175mm VEGAST cranks weigh 383.8g (without chainrings & axle).
Rotor's Trinity Drilling System is an expertly crafted system creating three internal holes from axle to pedal, which both makes an exceptionally light crank and also adds stiffness to take on the most challenging rides.
For an even lighter set, upgrade to the ALDHU cranks.
Modular
VEGAST cranks are compatible with the full Rotor modular system and can be paired with different axles and chainring combinations to be adapt to your bike set up and riding style. The crankarm, axle and chainring are connected by a spline interface which requires only one bolt, making it simple to assemble and disassemble.
Extras
Aero crown is available separately here
Other chainring options are available on request. Please leave a note at checkout and we will contact you to arrange your perfect set up.
Rotor INSpider Options
You can build your own INSpider system to suit your own requirements. See our Rotor FAQ for more indepth answers, but in brief:
Crank length?
Choice of 165mm, 170mm, 172.5mm or 175mm. This depends on the height and leg length of the rider. 165mm suits a 5'4" rider, whereas a 6'2" rider will want 175mm. It is a myth that shorter cranks suit triathletes better.
Q Rings or Round rings?
The oval shape of the Q-rings is designed to optimise the force applied to the pedal, by making the downward part of the pedal cycle a larger gear size, whereas the recovery stage is in a smaller gear. They are particularly useful when on the cusp of needing to change up or down gear, but can be tricky to master. See more info on Q-rings here.
Chainring sizes?
The spider is compatible with both 1x and 2x chainring systems. The standard chainring set size is a 39/53 2x, which will suit most riders.
You may want a smaller size (e.g. 34/50) if you are a slower rider, or if you will be climbing lots of hills.
1x systems (a single front chainring) are mostly for TT riders who rarely change the front chainring as they have an optimal set up with sufficient range for flat courses on the rear cassette. They would most likely use a 54T or similar.
If you want a chainring combination not listed here, including aero rings, please leave a note at the checkout, along with a phone number and we will confirm your personal combination.
VEGAST or ALDHU?
ALDHU is Rotor's top crankset, VEGAST is the standard. The main difference is weight: ALDHU is 347.8g whereas VEGAST is 383.8g. For that, the ALDHU is more expensive.
